Helen Joyce Benington

Joyce Pelham Benington died on January 29, 2021, having suffered from pancreatic cancer. Joyce is survived by her only child, Danny McDaniel (Pam) of Houston, and only grandchild, Eric McDaniel (Breanna) of Atlanta. She is preceded in death by her first husband, E R McDaniel, Jr and second husband, Dr Frederick Benington. Joyce was born in Geneva County Alabama and grew up in Graceville, FL, the oldest of six children. After high school Joyce moved to north Alabama, settling in Birmingham in 1971. Joyce's passion was to help others. She served many years at Grace Episcopal Church in a number of capacities including the Vestry and various outreach ministries. Joyce loved the arts. She was a docent at the Birmingham Museum of Art for twenty five years, until the time of her death. Joyce's passion was researching the history of art and making it a part of everyday life for others. Joyce treasured the friendships she made through the museum's Art Focus group, docent corps, staff and visitors. A memorial service will be held at a later date at Grace Episcopal Church in Woodlawn.
