

It is with great sadness that the family of J. Don Clark announces his passing on Thursday, April 21, 2022. He was 88 years old, born January 12, 1934, to the late James and Hazel Clark. He grew up in Fayetteville, TN where he attended Central High School and participated in many sports. He received his undergraduate degree at Middle Tennessee State University where he met his wife. He attended Vanderbilt Divinity School where he received his Master of Divinity degree and was ordained into the ministry in 1956 serving as a pastor in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Don is proceeded in death by his wife of 63 years, Shirley Galbreath Clark and is survived by his two daughters, Kimberly Clark and Kay Crook (Ricky); three grandchildren, Nicholas Crook (Emily), Allie Crook and Kayla Mears (Chris) and great granddaughter, Lucy Crook. He is also survived by his three sisters, Jean Forbes, Sandra Curtis (John) and Carolyn Boaz (Jackie), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He truly was a dedicated pastor and member of the Community. He served in the Civitan’s, Rotary, and other civic groups for many years. He started and was a coach of Dixie Youth Baseball in Nashville, TN. He was an avid reader and had a wonderful singing voice.
A Celebration of Don’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Ridout’s Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL 35209. Friends are cordially invited to visit with the family one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery, 475 Cahaba Valley Road, Pelham, AL 35124. Reverend Duwayne Pounds will officiate.
Memorial donations in memory of Don can be made to a charity of your choice. Services are under the direction of Ridout’s Valley Chapel (205-879-3401) in Homewood.
