

James G. Lovell, Jr. (Jim) of Vestavia Hills ,Alabama died at the age of 74 on Friday, September 12th 2014 . A graduate of Woodlawn High School, he attended Auburn University where he met his future wife Sharon Rochambeau. Jim was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and president of Delta Sigma Pi professional fraternity and graduated Auburn in 1962. After graduating Auburn he served in the Air National Guard and later attended LSU to further his degree and received a degree from the School of Banking. He then began a 17 year career in banking. Early in their marriage, Jim and Sharon joined Avondale Methodist Church where he served on the finance committee, and later joined Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church where he served on many committees and was serving on the finance committee until the date of his passing. After his career in banking Jim earned his Insurance certificate and opened Jim Lovell & Associates . He earned his Certified Financial Planner certification and continued to grow Jim Lovell & Associates for over 35 years.
Jim was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting trips with his friends and business associates. He was a mentor and friend to many . He enjoyed being involved in his Church, teaching Sunday School, Bible study, and spending time with his family, where he is the true patriarch of his immediate and extended family.
Jim is preceeded in death by his Parents, James G. Lovell, Sr. and Annie Lucille Stone Lovell and his sister Mary Carolyn Harrison. He is survived and loved by his wife of 52 years Sharon R. Lovell, step mother Margie Dean Lovell , his sons James G. Lovell III (Bo) and Daniel G. Lovell (Dan) his Daughter in law Lisa , grandchildren Sarah, Ashlyn and Jay, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews which he loved very much.
A time of visitation for Mr. Lovell will be at Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church on Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2014 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the funeral service for Jim will begin at 1:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow at Southern Heritage Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Vestavia Hills United Methodist Church Permanent Endowment Fund, 2061 Kentucky Avenue, Vestavia Hills, AL 35216
