Jane Westbrook Gray

Jane Westbrook Gray age 77, of Mountain Brook, passed away peacefully in her home on September 22, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the oldest of three children born to the late Dr. and Mrs. James C. Westbrook, Jr.

Jane was the beloved wife of Dr. Robert C. Gray for 57 years. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Robert C. Gray, her daughter, Jane Gray Atkinson (Scott), and her son, Robert C. Gray, Jr., her sister, Ann Westbrook Evans of Mobile, AL, and her brother, James Craig Westbrook III (Harriet). Her special loves were her four grandchildren, Scott E. Atkinson, Jr., Jane Westbrook Atkinson, Ross Hamill Gray, and Margaret Ellison Gray.

Jane was a graduate of Shades Valley High School and attended Stephens College for Women and The University of Alabama. She loved watching the Alabama Crimson Tide, playing bridge, laughing, being with her family and friends, and her dog Izzy. Jane touched the lives of many people with her smile, grace and generosity, and maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2011 at Mountain Brook Community Church, 3001 Hwy 280 E, Birmingham, AL 35243.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests all donations be sent to The American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
