

Jeanette Apollo Rossell, 81, of Homewood, AL passed away August 22, 2022. Jeanette, was born in Shamokin, Pennsylvania on March 18,1941. After completing high school at St. Edward’s, Jeanette moved to Philadelphia and worked for Rohm and Haas Co. where she met her husband, Dick. The two were married in Center City Philly. The couple joined the Space Race and moved to Merritt Island, FL where Dick worked as a Civil Engineer for Boeing/NASA. This period of time was a highlight in their lives. The couple later moved to Tallahassee, FL, where their children Kristin and Rich grew up. Jeanette was a hard working woman and frequent volunteer. She worked for The American Red Cross and The Tallahassee Community College dental hygiene school. Jeanette, later known as GiGi by her loved ones, was a kind and caring daughter, mother, grandmother and friend. She had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling with her family.
She and Dick retired in Panama City Beach where Jeanette served on numerous service committees for the Women’s Civic Club of Panama City Beach, FL. She loved her time in Florida and liked spending it outdoors, enjoying all the marine life that coastal living had to offer. Gigi moved to Alabama in 2013 to be closer to family, where she lived in the Brookdale community.
Jeanette’s faith was important to her and she was an active member of the Catholic Church. She is survived by her son, Rich Rossell and daughter-in-law Catherine Mallory Rossell, granddaughters Elizabeth, Brooks, Rayne and Sophia. She was preceded by her husband Dick Rossell, daughter Kristin Rossell Butler, daughter-in-law Molly Remmert Rossell and parents Mildred and Stanley Apollo.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday September 6th, 2022 at 4pm, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Homewood, AL. A celebration of life ceremony will be held in Panama City Beach, FL later this fall.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School.
