Jeanne Hart Hooton

Hooton, Jeanne Hart, 87. Passed away on September 22, 2012. Preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Sam B. Hooton; her parents, L. Stancel Hart and Bertha Durden Hart; and her brother, L.S. Hart, Jr. She is survived by her son Sam Hooton, III (Teresa) and daughter Dianne Hooton Norton (Tommy) of Birmingham; grandchildren, Todd Norton (Jennifer) and Ashley Norton Spurling (David) of Birmingham; Brink Norton (Heather) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Brittny Hooton Watson (Jonathan) of Decatur, AL; and 8 great-grandchildren. She was baptized into the Christian faith as a teenager by Dr. L. O. Dawson at Edgewood Baptist Church (later Dawson Memorial Baptist Church), and was a devoted member there through the rest of her life. She sang in the choir for many years, and served in the youth, college and nursery Sunday school. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and enjoyed sewing for her girls. The family would like to thank Kathryn Spencer, Sarah Buchanan and Esther Macharia for their care in her home; and the loving staff of 5 North at Fair Haven and Gentiva/Odyssey Hospice for their care over the last year.

There will be a private family burial at Elmwood, followed by a Memorial Service at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church on Tuesday, September 25 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
