Joan Harmon

Joan Griffith Harmon, age 74 passed away on August 5, 2024. Joan was born May 18, 1950 to the late James Edward Griffith, Sr. and Georgia Fields Griffith. She grew up in Demopolis, where she graduated from Demopolis High School. Joan earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Stephens College. She went on to further her education and graduated the Medical Laboratory Science Program from North Mississippi Medical Center. Joan worked for 30 years at Carraway Hospital. After Carraway closed she started working at St. Vincent’s Hospital until she retired but being the hard worker she decided to work part time at Grandview Hospital for a few years.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Patrick E. Harmon, her sister Louise Griffith and her son in law Terrance Creel. She is survived by her children Georgia Harmon Creel, Martha Chadband (Aaron) and Patrick Harmon, her grandchildren: Sophie, Harmon and Eli, her brother James Edward Griffith, Jr. (Mira), her mother in law Martha K. Harmon and her brothers in law Michael Harmon and Richard Harmon. Joan loved her family especially her grandchildren. The family would also like to give special thanks Expect Care Hospice.

Visitation will be held on Thursday August 8, 2024 at Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood beginning at 10:00 am with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. with Father John Fallon officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
