Joan Taylor Noland born January 30, 1922 in Cynthiana, Kentucky, the daughter of Wood Taylor and Gertrude Taylor, died Thursday, December 23, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Terry Noland, her brother Terry Taylor and grandson Andrew Scott Noland. She is survived by her children Ann, Jim (Beverly), John (Donna) and Alex (Emily), 3 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 1 pending great great grandchild. Joan grew up in Cynthiana, Kentucky and attended and graduated from the University of Kentucky, where she met her husband, whom she married in 1942. They moved to Alabama in 1949, first to Vredenburgh and then in 1954 to Birmingham. She was a homemaker and totally devoted to her husband and children. She held several positions over the years in the PTA as her children were in school. Upon moving to Birmingham, she and her family joined Valley Christian Church and was presented the Christian Service Award in 2009. She was an expert knitter and needle pointer and enjoyed creating for herself and her family – especially Christmas stockings. Upon Terry’s retirement, the two of them traveled worldwide. Joan has been a resident of Brookdale University Park since 2002. Our thanks to the ladies of Concierge Caregivers for their service and devotion to our mother. Services will be held at Ridout's Valley Chapel on Wednesday, December 29, 2021. Visitation is at 1:30 PM with service at 2:00 PM. You will be in our hearts forever Mom.
