Joanne Campbell

Joanne Meadows Campbell, age 88, went home to her Lord and Savior on February 28th, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Her life was marked by her Christian faith and devotion to her family and her church.

She was born and raised in Birmingham, AL, attended the Birmingham Baptist Hospital School of Nursing and then received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama. She married the love of her life, Paul, on September 4th, 1964, and they settled in their lifelong home in Irondale, where they raised their 3 sons. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Birmingham, where she loved singing in the choir and spending time with her friends. She served others tirelessly and devoted time to various ministries through the years. If you knew her, you were blessed by her gentle nature, thoughtfulness, kindness, encouragement, and the Christ-centered example she set for all of us.

Joanne is survived by her sons Keith (Dee) and Jonathan (Kristen); her grandchildren Jacob (Makenzie), Parker, Audrey and Claire; and her great-granddaughter Braelynn.

The family invites you to join them on Thursday, March 6th at First Baptist Church Birmingham. There will be a visitation at 10:00am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Jimmie Hale Mission who work to transform the lives of the homeless and hurting for the Glory of God.
