John Gardner Page

John Gardner Page devoted husband and father passed away on January 25, 2019. He was born on September 14, 1940 in Brookfield, Wisconsin to Raymond and Leone Page. He married his wife Joyce in July 1962 and they were happily married for 56 years. He had two daughters Teresa and Kimberly.

John attended the University of Wisconsin and received a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacology with a minor in Biochemistry in 1964, a Master of Science in Pharmacology with a minor in Biochemistry in 1965, and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology in 1967. After receiving his Ph.D., John completed a two-year internship with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.

Following his internship, John had a long and distinguished career as a toxicologist and was dedicated to finding treatments for cancer, HIV and AIDs. Over is career, John worked at Eli Lilly in Greenfield, Indiana, Rhodia, Inc. in Ashland, Ohio, Toxigenics in Decatur, Illinois, Whitesands Research, Inc. in Alamogordo, New Mexico, and Battelle Corporation in Columbus, Ohio. John spent the last twenty years of his career as the head of the Pre-Clinical Toxicology Division at Southern Research in Birmingham, Alabama.

John found great joy in learning new things. John was an avid photographer and especially enjoyed any opportunity to find the beauty in nature and wildlife through his photography. He also enjoyed reading, fishing, gardening, and computers. John was also a diehard fan of the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers. Most of all John enjoyed spending time with his loving wife Joyce, whether it be travelling across the U.S or abroad, playing bridge with their friends, or spending quiet evenings at home.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Leone, his brother, Richard, and his daughter, Teresa. In addition to his wife, Joyce and daughter, Kimberly, John is survived by two grandchildren, Megan and Cheyenne, three great-grandchildren, Max, Charly and Eloise, and his son-in-law, Donald.
