

Joseph Solomon Mizerany, 87, was born on November 28, 1927 in Birmingham, Alabama and passed away in the city of his birth on Saturday, February 28, 2015. He was a member of St. Elias Maronite Church and the Cedars Phoenician Club. Mr. Mizerany was employed for over 20 years with ARA Food Services, after which he worked many years at Joe's Ranch House where he will be fondly remembered for the warm welcome he offered to all who entered. Betty Nix Mizerany, Mr. Mizerany's wife of 61 years, preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his eldest son, Joseph Mizerany, III and survived by his family, Sarah Mizerany Denson (Bruce), Joseph Mizerany, IV (Haley) and Blake Mizerany (Laura) along with five great grandchildren Noelle, Grayson, Addison, Anderson and Pierson. Mr. Mizerany is also survived by his son, Charles Mizerany (Lynne) and his three sons, Charles Thomas, Stan and Will. One of ten children, Mr. Mizerany is survived by his brother Louis Mizerany (Myra) and preceded in death by his siblings Charles Mizerany (Clem), Emelene Stiff (Donald), Mary Hopper (Cecil), Juliet Zarzaur (Joe), Idell "Pennies" Boackle (Mike), Elizabeth Anderson (Frank), Solomon Mizerany, and Alice Boackle (Niame). Visitation and funeral services will be held at St. Elias Maronite Church, 836 8th Street South, Birmingham, Alabama, on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 9:30 am and 10:30 am, respectively. Interment at the St. Elias Columbarium and a memorial meal in the church hall will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Elias building fund.
