Katherine C. Tranum

Katherine Belle Cooper Tranum, of Birmingham, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2012. She is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Edward Tranum, Jr., and her brother Dr. Kenneth Wilson Cooper, as well as her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Vivian David Cooper.

She is survived by her children, Katherine (Kaci) Tranum Chesebro (Mark) and Samuel (Bo) Edward Tranum, III (Margie) of Birmingham, as well as grandchildren, Frederick Cooper Chesebro, Mary Kathryn Chesebro, Samuel Leon Chesebro and John Rivers Tranum, II. She is also survived by her sister, Carolyn Fay Gates (Carl) of Pennsylvania and her brother, Dr. Donald Wood Cooper of North Carolina and numerous nieces and nephews.

Katherine attended Brook Hill School for Girls and graduated from Ramsay High School. She was a member of Theta Kappa Delta. She was presented at Holiday Assembly, Debutante Club, Ball of Roses and Redstone Ball.

Katherine graduated from the University of Alabama where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.

Funeral will be graveside at Elmwood Cemetery, Saturday, August 11, 2012 at 10 am.
