

Lars “Wik” Holden Wikingstad passed away on the 9th day of May, 2015, at the age of 74. He is survived by his loving wife Brenda Beasley Wikingstad, his son Mark Walter Wikingstad, his stepson Randy Keith Owens, his daughter-in-law Wendy Owens, his grandchildren Emma, Hope, William, Cody and Adam. He is also survived by a large group of extended family and friends. Preceding him in death were his father Walter Knut Wikingstad and his mother Anna Isabella Sweetman Wikingstad.
Lars was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and lived on Colonial Farms until the age of 10. During his teenage years, he lived in South Carolina, Idaho and Hoyt Lakes, Minnesota where he graduated from Aurora High School. At age 18, he decided to join the United States Army where he became an MP at Fort Gordon in Georgia. While at Fort Gordon, he had the opportunity to work with some State Troopers and he immediately formed an interest in their organization. He attended college and earned an Associate Degree in Law Enforcement. He had a rewarding career as an Alabama State Trooper Sergeant and served 31 years. After retirement, he accepted a position with Jefferson County in Security and retired from that position after 15 years. Lars enjoyed life to the fullest and never met a stranger. He was the type of individual anyone would want for a close friend. His family and friends will miss his wonderful personality and his love for life.
The family will receive friends at Ridout’s Valley Chapel on Thursday, May 14th from 5:00 until 7:00 in the evening. The funeral service will be held at Ridout’s Valley Chapel on Friday, May 15th at 1:00 p.m. with burial following at Elmwood Cemetery .
