Lovie was born October 23, 1929 in Union Springs, Alabama. She graduated from Union Springs High School in 1947. She attended Auburn University and pledged Kappa Delta Sorority.
Lovie was aptly named. Her sincere love for everyone she met in life was instantly reciprocated, creating a remarkable group of dear friends. A genuine Southern Belle, Lovie was the real-life characterization of grace, beauty, and hospitality. Behind her petite figure was an inner strength stronger than a Southern Oak. Through losing two husbands, two children, and a grandson while in this life, Lovie has left a true witness to grace and dignity under pressure.
While humble and kind, Lovie’s passion for Auburn Football was by no means meek nor mild. She attended countless home games, often hosting her grandchildren whom adored her and her War Eagle spirit.
An amazing cook and southern cuisine enthusiast, Lovie passed her recipes and cooking talents on to her daughters and granddaughter. She cooked with patience and perfection creating gourmet southern meals from scratch. Lovie certainly knew there was no such thing as “instant grits”.
Lovie shared her last ten years with her wonderful and loving husband John.
Lovie and John enjoyed golfing together, dancing together, spending time at their beach condo in San Destin, and just holding hands.
Lovie will be remembered by all for her elegance, her entertaining spirit, and southern charm that could enlighten any mood.
There will be a private family service in her honor.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.ridoutsvalleychapel.com for the Montgomery family.
