

Lula M. Kakoliris passed away at age 94 at St. Martin's in the Pines. She was preceded in death by her parents; Nicholas and Caliope Mitchell; her husband, Denny Kakoliris and her brother, Chris Mitchell. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Bullard (Haran), Claudia Deason, and Denise Oelschlager, and grandsons, Dennis Deason, Keith Deason, Brian Oelschlager, and Kevin Oelschlager; as well as7 great grandchildren.
A lifelong resident of Birmingham, Lula graduated from Ensley High School. She married her sweetheart, Denny, just before he left to serve in the Navy during World War II. She and Denny were owners of Kings lnn Restaurant in Homewood for many years. Lula was a local artist and
was co-owner of an art gallery in Cobb Lane in the early 70s. She retired from UAB Department of Medicine, Division of Clinical
Immunology and Rheumatology in 1988. A devoted member of Holy Trinity Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Lula served as Sunday School Superintendent, President of the Ladies' Philoptochos Society, and Chairman of the annual Greek Food Festival.
The Visitation will be held at the Holy Trinity Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Thursday, December22, 2016 with the Trisagion Service to follow. The funeral service will be on Friday, December 23, 2016 at 11:00 at Holy Trinity Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral with interment at
Elmwood Cemetery. Father, Paul Costopoulos will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the Holy
Trinity Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Optum Palliative and Hospice Care, 33 Inverness Center Pkwy, Suite 350, Hoover, AL 35242 or to your favorite charity.
