Lynn Morrow Turner passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on June 2, 2025. She was born on February 1, 1947, to Joseph Lynn Morrow, Jr. and Caroline Kidd Morrow. Lynn was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, William Walker Jemison, Jr.
She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Wayne Turner; her sister, Caroline Morrow Jemison Kelley (Jim); her daughters, Elizabeth Turner Kuiper (Steve) and Caroline Turner Ezelle (Jay); and her grandchildren, Caroline Kuiper Tankersley (Jacob), William Turner Kuiper, Helen Morrow Ezelle, Charles Turner Ezelle, and Elizabeth Fielding Ezelle; and many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lynn attended Shades Valley High school, where she was president of Alpha Delta Psi, and the University of Alabama, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was also a member of the Junior League of Birmingham and the Junior League of Albuquerque, NM, where she was editor of its newsletter, The Link.
Lynn was a beloved English teacher, known for bringing classic books to life through her soothing reading voice. To further hone her craft, at age 42, she obtained her master's degree in English from Troy University and was awarded outstanding graduate student of the year.
Lynn always made family her number one priority. Known as Winnie to her grandchildren, she instilled in them that same curiosity and love of learning. You could often find her helping her grandchildren with their upcoming spelling bee, reading books, and practicing vocabulary words while supplying a steady supply of mini Blue Bell ice cream cones.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Lynn’s caregivers, Paulina Kitele and Cinthia Zavala.
A graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 5th, followed by a reception at The Country Club of Birmingham.
In lieu of Flowers, memorials may be sent to Encore Community Respite, 350 Overbrook Road, Birmingham, Alabama 35213.
