Manona (Nona) Ruth Parsons

Manona Ruth Parsons (Nona) passed away January 17, 2014. She was a graduate of Woodlawn High School, worked as a legal secretary in Tuscaloosa helping to put her husband through law school and an active life long member of McElwain Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and a loyal friend to many. She will be remembered for her love of others and her gift of hospitality. For those who were blessed to have known her it's going to be hard to imagine a world without her. We find peace in knowing that her heart has been made whole again by joining her devoted husband of 53 years, Frank Ray Parsons, who preceded her in death on July 1, 2013.

She was preceded in death by her parents Conway H. Hagan and Elma O. Hagan, a brother William C. Hagan and a sister Kay H. Boartfield. She is survived by her 3 children, Paige Parsons Burnett, Dr. Frank Ray Parsons, Jr. (Jennifer) and Shannon Parsons Dennis (Josh) as well as her 8 grandchildren Hagan Ward Burnett, Hampton Ray Burnett, William Parsons Tarter, Frank Walker Parsons, Kathryn Ruth Parsons, John Anderson Dennis, Mary Grace Parsons and Thomas Carlisle Dennis.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 22 from 6-8 pm and a service Thursday, January 23 at 2 pm at McElwain Baptist Church, 4445 Montevallo Road, Birmingham, Alabama. Officiating will be Pastor Wallace Henley and Dr. Jody Baker. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the ALS Association Alabama Chapter, PO Box 2888, Huntsville, Alabama 35804.
