Nécrologie de Margaret B. Campbell
Margaret Estella Burke Campbell, 65, of Birmingham, Alabama, died on Sept. 18, 2022 after a sudden illness. Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Sam and Mary Burke of Oneonta, Ala. and family pets Frisky (beagles), and Sadie (rabbit). She is survived by her husband Gary of Birmingham; daughter Sarah of Las Cruces, N.M.; son Chris of Baltimore; and brother Sam of Oneonta, Ala. Her family would like to give a big-hearted thank you to the team at Hope Hospice. She loved young children and was a teacher for over half of her life. She taught elementary school in Griffin, Ga. and Mountain Brook, Ala. before spending nearly 25 years at Trinity United Methodist Church in Homewood, Ala. There she worked across its childcare ministries: in the infant room on Sundays cuddling babies, teaching preschool (including nearly 20 years with special needs children), and working at its Parents' Day Out program. She has had too many surrogate children and grandchildren over the years to count. When not checking off items on her many to-do lists or indulging her sweet tooth, Margaret enjoyed reading, playing games, completing jigsaw puzzles (no more than 1000 pieces), being out in nature, and collecting dolls--a lifelong hobby. Even though she loved flowers, Margaret requested that contributions could be made in her memory to causes and places close to her heart: Trinity United Methodist Church's capital campaign, the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama, or Camp ASCCA. Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Homewood, with the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Dailey's Chapel Cemetery in Rosa, Ala.
