Maria Triantos McGarity

Maria Triantos McGarity, February 2, 1961 – October 29, 2015 age 54, passed away at her home in Birmingham, Alabama. Maria was born in Birmingham to Arthur and Angela Triantos, and survived by her mother Angela. She is preceded in death by Her Father Arthur Phillip Triantos and Sister Georgia Triantos James (Gigi). Maria is also survived by her husband Alan McGarity, children Thomas Payne and Angie Payne Bryant, her grandchildren Mary Catherine Bryant and Emily Grace Bryant, Her Brother Phillip Triantos, Sister in law Donna Triantos, nephews Arthur Triantos, Dean Triantos, nieces Angela Triantos, Elizabeth James and Alexis James. Viewing is Monday, November 2, from 9:00 to 11:00 am with funeral services following at 11:00 am at the Holy Trinity Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral 307 19th Street South, Birmingham, Alabama 35223.

She grew up in Mountain Brook and attended the Mountain Brook School Systems. Maria was a member of the Holy Trinity Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral. During Maria’s time at Mountain Brook High School she was a member of the sorority Alpha Theta Delta, Future Homemakers of America and voted wittiest her senior year. After high school she married and became a mother of two beautiful children whom she adored. She was a devoted mother, a loving sister and a good friend. Maria loved life and celebrating holidays with lots of friends and family. Later in her life she remarried Alan McGarity and the two enjoyed living life together. She became a Grandmother five years ago which she considered her greatest joy in life. The past two years of Maria’s life she worked hard at finding peace with herself and with God. We know Maria was at peace when the Lord came to receive her into his Kingdom. May her memory be eternal!
