Mary Carolyn Worthington McPherson died November 7, 2013, following an extended illness. Born in Birmingham February 26, 1945, she was the daughter of the late William Bryan Worthington and Mary Helen Johnson Worthington. She is survived by her son John Gregory McPherson (Lynn Slyhoff McPherson) , sister, Laura Jean Worthington Berry and granddaughters Clare and Anna McPherson. She was preceded in death by her brother, William Bryan Worthington, Jr. She graduated from Bessemer High School , attended the University of Alabama and was retired from South Central Bell. Mary Carolyn adored her granddaughters and will be dearly missed. Her generous spirit lives on in the exquisite threadwork, knitting, needlepoint, and embroidery she lovingly created for family and friends. Memorial service will be held at Ridouts Valley Chapel in Homewood , Monday, November 11, at 1:00 PM , The Reverend Peter Horn officiating.
