Mildred K Flowers

Mildred Kay Flowers, age 80 of Mountain Brook passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020. Kay was born on January 11, 1940 to the late Dr. Michael Rufus Coffman and Mrs. Ruth Ellis Coffman. Kay graduated Shades Valley High School in 1958. She attended Stephens College in Missouri and graduated from the University of Alabama in 1962 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. After graduation Kay worked for a number of years in Vocational Rehabilitation. She was a lifelong member of Highlands United Methodist Church.

Kay is survived by her loving husband of 51 years Samuel Robert Flowers, 2 children Leigh Flowers Inskeep and Samuel Robert Flowers, Jr., sisters: Marie Coffman Crosby and Helen Coffman Johnson; 2 grandchildren: Ann Ellis Inskeep and Sarah Catherine Inskeep, niece Stacey Stull Cecil (Chris) and nephew Michael Eugene Johnson.

The family will receive friends at Ridout’s Valley Chapel on Tuesday, June 9th from 9 until 10 o’clock in the morning. A graveside service following at 11 o’clock in the morning at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Kay’s memory to Highlands United Methodist Church.
