
Miles Alston Callahan, 37, of Brentwood, Tennessee, died suddenly on Saturday morning, July 4th, 2015. Miles was born in Birmingham, Alabama on April 24th, 1978. He graduated from The Darlington School in Rome, Georgia and received a business degree from Brevard College in Brevard, North Carolina. He has worked in banking in Alabama and Tennessee for fourteen years. Miles is survived by two adored daughters, Koula Courtney (Koco), and Mia Nicole (Coley), and by their mother, Mandy. He is also survived by his loving parents Michael Alston Callahan (Teresa) and Mary Jo West (Seymour), brothers Charles, Michael and Timothy Callahan, a sister, Koula Callahan , two step-sisters, Lauren West Ellen (Phillip), and Kathryn West Lambert (Chad); his grandparents Jerry and Koula Lorant; three aunts, Kristina Callahan (Michael Wolfson), Karin Callahan, and Desa Osborn (Steve); uncles Timothy Callahan (Lynn) and Charles Lorant (Terry); and 10 first cousins. Miles is predeceased by his grandparents, James and Lottie Lowery of Jasper and Alston and Eivor Callahan of Birmingham; uncles Dennis Lowery, Patrick Callahan and Kevin Callahan. Miles' trademarks are these: He was a wonderful father and known for his passionate love and devotion to Koco and Coley; and he was known for his undying love, loyalty, and service to his many friends. Once a friend of Miles, you were his friend for life. His open heart accepted all people and his faith remained strong throughout his life. He loved well and was loved dearly by many. When he held you in one of his remarkable hugs, you felt how deeply he loved you. Visitation will be 3:30 to 5:30 Monday, July 6, 2015, at Ridout's Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, Alabama. A memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock pm on Tuesday, July 7th, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 3736 Montrose Road, Birmingham, Alabama 35213, with a reception following. A burial in Elmwood Cemetery for family, pallbearers, and friends will be held at 11:30 am prior to the Memorial Service. The family suggests contributions in his memory be made to the charity of your choice, to FOR Nicaraguan Health, The Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Leeds, AL or to Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital.
