Nancy Baker

Nancy Baker passed away December 5, 2016 following a brief illness. She is survived by her children Richard Baker (Leisa) and Susan Hackney (Gery) and their families. Nancy grew up in Ohio but spent the last 46 years in Birmingham. She was a gifted artist who designed needlepoint for a number of area churches and homes. She also did beautiful embroidery and other fiber arts. She could create beauty though her art, but even more importantly she worked hard to make the world a bit nicer. She cared deeply for her friends and family – she made friends wherever she went and kept her sweet spirit up through her last day. Nancy retired from the Birmingham Water Works in 2007 and was an active member of Canterbury United Methodist Church. She moved to Town Village Apartments in February of this year and truly loved her new home. A celebration of her life will be held 11:00 am Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Canterbury United Methodist Church Chapel with a 10:00 am. Visitation will be before the service in the church parlor. Please wear your favorite color. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to your favorite charity or Canterbury United Methodist Church- Chapel fund or Martha’s Garden.
