Nancy was born the only child of Ellen Coleman Johnson and Roland Harvey Johnson. She grew up in Norwood and attended Phillips High School. She graduated Cum Laude from Birmingham Southern College with membership in Phi Beta Kappa. While at Birmingham Southern her social membership was in Pi Beta Phi. Nancy was quite brilliant and in later years she received an M. A. and Ed.D. from the University of Alabama. She taught in the Birmingham School System for 18 years and served in many positions as a professor at U.A.B. for 19 years. She was elected to membership in Omicron Delta Kappa and Phi Delta Kappa.
Upon retiring she became very active in her church, First Presbyterian Church where she was an Elder and Sunday School Teacher. She was also active in the American Association of University Women, Ikebana Garden Club, University Hospital Volunteers, Birmingham Museum of Art Volunteers, and the Sherlock Holmes Society. Only poor health slowed her many activities.
Kiss and give a special treat to your cat today in memory of Nancy.
