

Patrick Alexander Shelby age 92 of Center Point, died on Good Friday, April 15, 2022. He was born April 27, 1929 in Birmingham AL. He was a graduate of Phillips High School and spent most of his career in the iron and steel industry working for Sloss Furnaces, U S Pipe and Foundry and Jim Walter’s Resources.
Patrick (Pat) Shelby loved family and life living it to the fullest. He was a proud United States Air Force veteran, member of the Alabama Auto Racing Pioneers, avid outdoor man, bee keeper, music lover, poetry connoisseur, professional gardener (best known as the “tomato Man” among his friends), and a certified beach bum. He was a jack of all trades and contained a wealth of knowledge.
Patrick was preceded in death by his parents Claude Duval Shelby and Mary Townes Shelby, his wife of 48 years Mary Elizabeth Jordan Shelby; brother Claude D Shelby; sisters: Mary Shelby Goldman and Margaret Shelby Norman. Patrick was survived by 3 daughters: Carol Shelby Mullins (Ed) of Ooltewah, Tn; Lynn Shelby Ellis of Morris, Al; Diane Shelby Ivey (Doug) of Columbus, Ga; 6 grandchildren: Charles Mullins(Angie); Jeff Mullins (Hayley); Genie Ivey Christian (Eric); Jake Ivey, Jordan Ivey Lamson (Jason); and Corey Ellis (Brittany); 5 great grandchildren: Peyton Tippit, Tyler Mullins, Olivia Mullins, Harper Mullins and Pierson Ellis; 3 step grandchildren Micah Stone, Savannah Underwood, Brecken Griffith; one step great great grandchild Ascher Underwood; a host of nieces and nephews and beloved friends of Kirkwood by the River. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Shelby’s caregivers including: Blaine Farris, RN Kindred @Home, V A staff of Home Help, Kirkwood Personal Care, Encompass Health Hospice, and the loving staff of Kirkwood by the River.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, 20th of April 2022 beginning at two o'clock in the afternoon at Ridout's Valley Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery with Military honors.
