Pete Petro died peacefully Friday November 21. He was born in Leland, Mississippi where he grew up. In World War II he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. In 1955 he and his wife, Alice, moved from Jackson, MS to Birmingham and began a lifelong career in the jewelry business. He was preceded in death by his parents Rose and Fred Petro and his 6 older brothers. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Alice, his children Paul and Kathy, Gary and Betty, Laura and Mike Bybee, Tim and Lynne, and Mark and Julie. His grandchildren Katie and Spence McKinney, Melissa and Eric Cates, Christopher, Matthew and Amanda, Kelly, Ross Neely, Hamilton Keller, Grace Arillo, Pete, Carlee, Allee and John. His great grandchildren Austin and Graham Cates and John McKinney as well as numerous nieces and nephews and good friends. Visitation will be Monday Nov. 24 at 10 am at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hoover with a funeral mass following at 11 am. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation in his name to St Peter's Catholic Church.
