

Phillip Edward Hinkle passed away on March 10, 2026. He was born July 3, 1941, in Birmingham, Alabama to Francis Hunter Hinkle and Edine Tucker Hinkle. He was preceded in death by his son, Justin Bradley Hinkle (Melissa) and both of his parents. He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Fuller Hinkle and his children, Austin Merritt Hinkle (Hope) and Leigh Ann Hinkle Barker (Chad) and five grandchildren, Ella Grace Barker, Chole Annabelle Barker, Dexter August Barker, Connor Joseph Hinkle and Marin Grace Hinkle and many nieces and nephews.
Phil grew up in Birmingham and graduated from Woodlawn High School. He attended The University of Alabama and Samford University. He joined the family business, Hinkle Supply(founded in 1926), in 1964. Hinkle Metal and Supply was opened in 1980 with his brother, Francis Hunter Hinkle. It is a distributor of heating and air conditioning products in the Southeast.
As and avid sportsman, Phil was a member of the Henley Hunting Club in Geiger, Alabama for 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and all outdoor sports. He loved his companion dogs, Trump and Precious.
At Old Overton Country Club, Phil loved playing golf and the nineteenth hole. Many relaxing hours were spent in these beautiful surroundings.
A visitation and reception will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Ridout’s Valley Chapel located at 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, Alabama 35209. A private remembrance for the family will follow.
Services are under the direction of Ridout’s Valley Chapel (205-879-3401) in Homewood.
