Mr. Childress attended Ensley High School and Auburn University, where he was a member of the Delta Chi Fraternity.
He was preceded in death by his wife Judy Awbrey Childress. His survivors are sons Awbrey and Aaron (Emily), grandchildren Samantha and Jackson, brother Michael (Linda), sister Nita Allums (Mike), sister-in-law Janie Shelnut (Sam) along with many nieces and nephews.
At the request of Mr. Childress there will be no services.
