

Rick Booth, age 78, passed from this life on April 12, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Rachel Booth; a son Kevin M. Booth, of Edgewater, MD.; and three grandchildren: Brittany of Lawrenceville , GA., Katherine of Chicago, IL. , and William Bryan of Lawrence, KS.
He was born in Knoxville, TN, and was preceded in death by his Father, Frank W. Booth of Pittsburg, PA and his Mother, Nina M. Booth of Harriman, TN.
Mr. Booth served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War, later retiring from the U.S. Air Force, where he served as an intelligence officer with the National Security Agency. Mr. Booth earned business and law degrees, and following his military service, worked in the retail petroleum and petroleum equipment business.
An avid traveler, Mr. Booth and his family lived in the US, Europe and Asia, and traveled to over 60 countries. He enjoyed flying, fishing, and visiting both historic and unique places.
Mr. Booth was a longstanding member of the Masons, the Scottish Rite Masons and the Shriners, The Royal Order of Scotland, the Lions Clubs International, and The Sons of The American Revolution (SAR). Through this work, he found great joy and satisfaction in bettering the lives of others; providing vision-saving glasses during one of many Lions Vision Mission trips, or providing shoes to the needy during a Scottish Rite Shoe Day.
Funeral services for Mr. Booth will be Monday, April 15,2013 at 11:00 am at Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood, AL. A reception and a time of visitation will follow the service at Valley Chapel. Burial will take place on Wednesday, April 17,2013 at Earles Grove Baptist Cemetery in Earles Grove, South Carolina.
The family suggest that donations be made to the Richard B. Booth Optometry Scholarship, at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, AL.
