Richard "Rick" C. Fruechtenicht

Rick served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy. He attended Central Iowa University. After moving to Birmingham, Al he obtained a Law degree from Samford University and went on to practice law for Protective Life until his retirement in 2015.

Rick loved to play golf with his buddies, the challenge of playing bridge with friends, and his Monday evening Bible studies.

Rick enjoyed his work at Protective life where he was loved by many. He was a devoted husband, brother, son, and stepdad. He loved and served his country well.

Rick married his love, Barbara Henson in 1983 and enjoyed life together for 32 years until her death in 2015. He is survived by his brother Douglas H. Fruechtenicht (Karen), of Grand Rapids Michigan: niece Hannah (Shane) Huson, A grand nephew and grand niece, and stepson Michael G. Henson (Mary).

We will forever be blessed with the memory of Rick's unending wit, generosity and willingness to help others. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to King's Home (formerly King's Ranch and Hannah Homes) in Chelsea Alabama. A graveside service, with military honors, will be held at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at 1:15 pm
