

HELENA – Robert G Rogers, 76, died September 11, 2021, at home surrounded by his wife, son, and stepdaughters. He died peacefully after complications from MSA (Multiple System Atrophy).
He was born September 19, 1944, in Anniston, Alabama, the son of Ralph and Gladys Rogers.
Bob graduated from Jacksonville High School, Class of 1963. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US ARMY and served 7 years during the Vietnam Era. After his military service he became a sales representative and sales manager in various organizations. He was an active member of Bluff Park United Methodist Church, Seekers Sunday School. He served as a volunteer at both BPUMC and Aldridge Botanical Gardens. He was especially great working with children in gardening classes at both even helping kids learn about and touch worms!
In 1982 he and his high school sweetheart (Janis Sasnett) reconnected and married five weeks later. They celebrated their 39th anniversary on March 6, 2020, with plans for many more. They celebrated their own love story every day.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two brothers, Bill, and Buddy Rogers, as well as his nephew Mike Rogers and his wife Barbara. He is survived by his wife Jan Rogers, his son Robert Gerald Rogers Jr (Anna), niece Denise Debardeleben (Bill), granddaughters (Mallory and Ainsley Rogers), grand nieces Kasi Sexton (Josh), Monica Willis (Micah), Julie Ramsey (Tyler), grand nephew Brad Debardeleben, stepdaughters Angela Caylor (Danny), Shannon-Brooks Hamilton (Jamie), Karen Culverhouse, step grandsons Jacob Caylor, Max Caylor, Barclay Culverhouse, step granddaughters Abby Caylor and Kate Culverhouse, Sister in Law Genni Sasnett (Tom Wilds) and many friends and loved ones.
A brief service will be held 11 AM, Friday September 24, 2021, at Montevallo National Cemetery with Military Honors. The service will be officiated by Mike Holly (pastor BPUMC) and music provided by Art DeWeese (Choral director BPUMC). Following the service, a Committal Service will be held at the Columbarium where Robert’s cremation urn will be placed in his assigned niche. In lieu of flowers gifts may be sent to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief). Checks may be sent to BPUMC (733 Valley St, Birmingham, AL 35226) with UMCOR on check and Bob Rogers indicated on the “FOR” line.
Jan and family requests a private immediate family-only repast and celebration at the Rogers’ residence. Thanks go to all for prayers, cards, and gifts during the last several months of Bob’s decline and to all of those who have expressed their love and concern for Bob and Jan during these last days. Bob was a warrior, and he was a sweet and kind and loving man. He loved Jan and Gerry and his family and friends, golf, and AUBURN football!
