Ruth Turner Huffman

HUFFMAN, RUTH TURNER Ruth Turner Huffman,99, went to be with her Lord on November 13, 2012. In her younger years, Ruth was employed at Kessler's in Birmingham. While there, she was instrumental in designing and managing the first custom Bridal Shop in Birmingham. Ruth worked hard at everything that she did and had talents that she lovingly shared with others. In her later years because of her great interest in interiors and antiques she was employed at Frankie Engel Antiques in Homewood. During her career at Engel's, she developed many lasting friendships with her clientele. Ruth retired in 1998 at age 85. Aunt Ruth was a sweet, kind, and loving person who was always ready to help where needed. She loved entertaining and was full of life and fun. She loved her family deeply and we in turn loved her and are so grateful for her love to all. Ruth is a member of First Methodist Church Birmingham where she faithfully served for many years. Ruth is preceded in death by her husband John E. Huffman and her daughter Carol Ruth Huffman. She is survived by her three nieces Nancy Waldrop(Butch), Shirley Powers, and Carolyn Womack and their families. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Somerby One Nineteen for the loving care provided during her year of residency. Graveside service will be Sunday, November 18, at 2:00 PM at Elmwood Cemetery. Rev Keith Thompson of First Church will be officiating. In lieu of flowers , the family requests memorials be made to Argo Christian Fellowship Building Fund 936 US Highway 11 North, Trussville, AL 35173.
