Suzanne Barrett Roesel

Susie Roesel of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Visitation will be 10:00 am on Thursday, April 9, at All Saints Episcopal Church in Homewood, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am. Susie is survived by daughters Tracy Schumer and Cheryl Roesel, their husbands, Art Schumer and Joseph Smith, her brother, James Barrett, sister-in-law Dorothy Barrett, friend and caregiver Carolyn Pippin, and beloved dog Sadie. She was preceded in death by her brother Richard Barrett and parents Ulis N. (Gabe) and Jewell E. Barrett. A native of Wildwood, Florida, Susie loved people and had a special place in her heart for miniature schnauzers. She began her career as a human resources executive for ITT at the Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral, Florida, where she worked from the early days of the space program through the Apollo program. While a resident of the “Space Coast,“ and throughout her life, she thoroughly enjoyed the beach, golf, and salt-water fishing. Her career later took her to Greensboro, North Carolina, and finally to Birmingham, Alabama, where her interest in financial planning led her to work in the financial services industry.
