William “Bill” was born in Roanoke Virginia to the late George Clifford and Ellizabeth Carter Manuel. He was married to the late Ann Ruley Manuel for 60 years. He worked at US Steel in Roanoke Virginia, Birmingham Alabama, and Orange Texas until he retired in 1985. He enjoyed time with family, woodworking, inventing and fishing. His pride and joy were his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.
He was predeceased by his parents, wife and his brother George Clifford Manuel Jr. He is survived by his son Don Manuel (Margaret) and daughter Becky Lary (Frank), grandchildren Bart Lary (Rachel), Blake Lary (Anne) Carter Manuel (Margaret), Wilson Manuel (Polly), and Caroline Debardeleben (Prince) and twelve great grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Canterbury United Methodist Youth Department or Trinity United Methodist Youth Department or the National Kidney Foundation.
