

She was born in London, England September 20th 1944 to Stan & Sally Stanley.
Barbara was a competitive swimmer in her youth but chose a nursing carrier over a chance at the Olympics. In later life she switched carriers to banking from which she retired in 1996. At the time of her death she had been married to her husband, Ivan, for 46 years. As well as her husband she is survived by daughter Katrina Faris of Ontario, Aidan Jones of New York and Richard Jones of Vista CA and grandchildren Kathleen Faris, Ian Faris, Andrew Jones and Dez Jones. She was predeceased by her grandson Sean Faris In accordance with her wishes a celebratory service will be held here in Homosassa at 3pm November 1st at the Wilder Funeral Home, 4890 South Suncoast Blvd (US19), Homosassa Springs, FL, 34446 (tel +1 352 628 3344) and afterwards at home for nibbles and refreshments. Barbara's ashes will be taken up to Canada to rest with our grandson Sean. A similar celebratory service is planned in Harriston, Ontario for November 10th. But that date is not confirmed yet. As a polio survivor Barbara has suggested that donations in lieu of flowers be made to the Rotary International Polio Fund through Rotary Club of Homosassa Springs, POBox 2029, Homosassa Springs, FL, 34447, USA, or to a charity of your choice. Finally these two services mentioned above are to celebrate Barbara's life. She requested that no one wears black.
