Barbara Mofield Latta

Barbara Mofield Latta, 78, of Homosassa, passed away on Fri., Dec. 13, 2013 at Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville. A native of Washington, IN, she was born March 21, 1935 to Earl and Irene (Kimmel) Whitehead, one of eight children. Bobbie, as she was known to many, was the former owner and operator, along with her late first husband James, of Mofield Amusements. She moved here in 1968 from Gibsonton, FL and was of the Pentecostal faith and attended the First Assembly of God Church of Homosassa. Barbara was also a member of the Showman’s Club of Gibsonton. She is survived by her husband of 16 years, Robert Latta, Homosassa; children Michael Mofield (wife Fran) and Allen Mofield (wife Denise), both of Gibsonton; Jimmy Dean Mofield and Jackie Wood, both of Homosassa; Barbara Bailey, Wrightsville, GA; stepchildren Ralph Latta, Benton, IL; Melissa Latta, Buckner, IL and Thomas Latta, Virginia; sisters Ida, Lietha and Phyllis Jean; 13 grandchildren, 7 stepgrandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Bobbie was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, James Mofield; son Gary Mofield; sisters Donna, Sally and Erlene and brother Benny. Friends will be received on Tuesday, Dec. 17th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, where Celebration of Life service will be held on Wed., Dec. 18th at 11:00 A.M..
