Charles J. Hoeffler, 96, of Homosassa, Fla. passed away peacefully at Vitas Hospice House in Lecanto, FLA on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. Charles joins his beloved wife Eleanor in heaven, to continue their love affair that began when they were just teenagers. Chuck and Ellie were married for 64 years when Ellie passed in October 2013, and he has been looking forward to their reunion ever since. Charles, better known as “Chuck,” was born in Brooklyn, NY to Ellen and Joseph Hoeffler. He met his beloved Ellie at a church youth group when they were teens and the love affair began. Chuck left Ellie to serve his country in World War II and was stationed in Africa. After his return, he utilized the GI Bill to go to college and on to Brooklyn Law School, where he graduated Valedictorian of his class. His law degree was a prerequisite to joining the FBI where he served as a Special Agent for the next 30 years. Chuck worked out of the NYC office commuting from West Hempstead, Long Island where he raised his 3 girls Cheryl, Lynne and Susan. When Chuck and Ellie retired they moved to Sugar Mill Woods in Homosassa where the second leg of their journey began. In their 20+ years in Sugar Mill Woods, they made fabulous friends, enjoyed monthly luncheons with the FBI retirees, the Order of the Elks and Chuck relished his weekly golf followed by couple’s night at “the club.” Chuck is most known for his kind and generous heart, corny sense of humor and integrity. He is survived by his three daughters: Cheryl Hoeffler, Lynne Piontek and Susan Carollo, his brother Calvin Hoeffler, his son-in-love Charlie Piontek and his five grandchildren: Kristyn and Alison Feldman, Joe Carollo and Jenna and Sean Piontek.
