

Dwight M. Moree, 84, of Crystal River, FL, passed away on Thurs., Feb. 26, 2015 at Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, Lecanto, FL. A native of Riviera Beach, FL, he was born June 17, 1930 to George and Estelle (Sawyer) Moree, one of ten children. Dwight served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a radio operator and was stationed at the Army Security Agency in Warrenton, VA monitoring listening devices. His duties were sending and receiving coded messages. A lifelong resident of Florida, he moved to Crystal River in 1985 from West Palm Beach, where he had lived for 25 years. Mr. Moree was a retired supervisor for Southern Bell Telephone after 30 years of service and was an experienced and licensed H.A.M. radio operator who loved fishing. Dwight is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Mary J. "Mary Hazel" Moree of Crystal River; sons Kevin Moree, Vero Beach and Dwight Moree (wife Teresa), West Palm Beach and daughter Claire Matte (husband Ted), Macon, GA; brothers Franklin Moree, West Palm Beach; Foster Moree, Crystal River and Philip Moree, Ft. Worth, TX; grandchildren Carly, Kristen, Jennifer, Christopher, Keith and Kelly and great grandchildren Blake and Alexandra. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings: George, Charles, Frieda, Regina, Herbert and Inez. A celebration of Dwight’s life will be held on Sun., March 1, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. from Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, FL. Friends will be received from 2:30 P.M. until service time.
