Edward J. Zack Jr.

Edward J. Zack, Jr., 72, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Tues., June 11, 2013 at Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, FL. A native of Cleveland, OH, he was born May 6, 1941. Mr. Zack was a proud U.S. Navy veteran from 1959 to 1963. Upon discharge from the U.S. Navy, he attended Pace University in New York City, where he graduated (with honors), earning a bachelor’s degree in business. His professional life entailed a 33 year career with AT&T Communications. He retired in 1998 as a National Program Manager from AT&T Headquarters in Bedminster, NJ. Ed, as he was known to many, was of the Roman Catholic Faith and Past Grand Knight of Blessed Mother Seton Knights of Columbus Council 5410, Flanders, NJ and was also a member of the American Legion. Mr. Zack moved to Homosassa permanently 12 years ago from Bayville, NJ, where he was able to fulfill his dream of building a home on the water. Ed was an avid boater and fisherman, and especially the game of poker. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mary Ann Zack, Homosassa, FL; son Andrew Zack, Homosassa; son Christopher Zack (wife Anna), Calafon, NJ; brothers Andrew Zack, California and Michel Zack, Pennsylvania; sister Carol Ann Bartow, Punta Gorda, FL and grandchildren Erica and Julia Zack. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thurs., June 27th at 1:00 PM from St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church, Homosassa. At the completion of mass, military honors will be rendered by the American Legion Post #155 of Crystal River, and the U.S. Navy. There will be a memorial gathering at Sugarmill Woods Country Club following the mass. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Ed’s name to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
