George Robert Hayes

George Robert Hayes 83, of Homosassa, FL died Friday, June 3rd, 2011 at Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, FL. George was born Aug. 27th, 1927 in Burlington, KY and grew up in Jefferson City, TN. He was the son of the late William C. and Grace Hayes. Mr. Hayes worked for the Ft. Pierce Utilities Authority for 30 years and retired in 1990 as the superintendent of electrical distribution. Mr. Hayes retired to Ivey, GA from Ft. Pierce, and came to Homosassa a year ago. He served in the US Navy Sea Bees in the Pacific during WWII, was a member of American Legion Post 40 of Ft. Pierce and the Dixie Senior Golf Association in GA. George is survived by his wife of 58 years, Louise, of Homosassa, sons Ralph L. Hayes (Laura) of Homosassa, and George H. Hayes, grandchildren Michael Hayes of Pittsboro, NC, Daniel Hayes and Jacob Hayes of Orlando, and Brandi Hayes, two sisters Doris Snoddy of Charlotte, NC, and Mary Ellen Etheridge of Ft. Pierce, FL. He was preceded in death by his brother William Hayes of Indianapolis, IN and his sister Jayne Baker Woolard of Miami, FL.

A memorial service will be held at Wilder Funeral Home in Homosassa, on Thursday June 9th at 11:00a.m. Memorials may be made to the Disabled Veterans Associations, 6285 Pearl Road Suite #7, Parma Heights, OH 44130.
