under the loving care of his family and Hospice. Born February 26th, 1944 in Morrison, Illinois, son of the late George J. Vegter and Pearline Workman Vegter. Jay was a retired lead master mechanic for the McClean-Fogg company of Savanna, Illinois. He was an avid horseman, lived and worked as a cowboy for two years in Nevada.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Mary Bull.
Jay is survived by his wife of 29 years Patricia Lee Vegter of Homosassa; daughters Terri Schrader and her husband Terry of River Dale, Utah, Kim Pinkous of Morrison, Illinois and Julie Vegter of Morrison; brother Ronald Vegter and his wife Dixie of Morrison; step-sons Faron, Scott, Bob, Ron and Ferlin Ledford; granddaughter Nicole Winstead; great-granddaughter Zoie Johnson; 10 step-grandchildren and 1 step-great-grandchild.
A celebration of Jay’s life will be held 2 p. m., Friday, March 4th, 2011 at the home of Jay and Patricia. Wilder Funeral Home assisting the family with cremation arrangements.
