John Patrick Hawkes Jr.

John Patrick Hawkes, Jr., 80, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Friday, Jan. 9, 2026 at his home. A native of Trenton, NJ, he was born Nov. 21, 1945 to John Patrick, Sr. and Vivian Hawkes, one of three children. John proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War era, attaining the rank of Storekeeper Third Class Petty Officer. He enjoyed a decades long career with IBM, serving the Information Technology Division. Mr. Hawkes moved to the Sugarmill Woods area of Homosassa 32 years ago from the Hamilton Square/Trenton, NJ area and was of the Roman Catholic faith. Mr. Hawkes was a member of the Citrus County Cruisers Club for many years, and part of his perfect day would include driving his classic 1982 Chevrolet El Camino. He was also an avid fan of Notre Dame football. Also, John could, in just one note, tell you the name and artist of any song from the 50’s and 60’s. Mr. Hawkes was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra L. “Sandie” Hawkes of Homosassa, FL and sisters Carrie Whitaker, Wisconsin and Deb Senf, Pennsylvania.

Military Honors at Florida National Cemetery will take place on Tuesday January 27, 2026 at 2 PM. Services entrusted to Macrini-Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, FL
