

Leonard L. Bush, Sr., 89, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023 at HPH Hospice Citrus Care Center in Lecanto, FL. A native of Sparta, IL, Leonard was born March 15, 1934 to Richard and Glema (Blackwell) Bush, one of six children. Leonard enjoyed a long 30 year career as a switchman for Norfolk & Western Railroad, beginning with the railroad at the age of 16. As a man who just LOVED to work, he then also managed multiple campgrounds in America with his beloved wife of 66 years, Virginia Lee “Jenny” Bush, who preceded him in death on Jan. 29, 2019. He and Jenny moved to Citrus County in 1995 from Canal Fulton, OH and were founding members of Nature’s Resort Church in Homosassa, with Leonard actually supervising the building of the church. Leonard loved to eat, as food made him really happy, and he was a fan of root beer floats. He was known as a man who loved to work outdoors, and he also loved to watch western movies on television, including those that starred John Wayne. His family was his passion and was happiest when his family was all together. In addition to his loving wife Jenny and his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Bush; sisters Marcella and Vera Mae; a son-in-law, Robert Koch, and a granddaughter, Brandy Lea Bush Hosto, on Dec. 27, 2021. He is survived by his children: Leonard L. Bush, Jr. (wife Becki); Deborah Koch, Brighton, IL; Darrell Bush (wife Pam), Edwardsville, IL; Chloe Lake (husband Mike), Brighton, IL and Lisa Smith, Oklahoma; brother Brentice Bush (wife Betty), Ontario, Canada and sister Marcia Crushin, Texas; 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and also his very dear friend, Susie Clarke, Brooksville, FL. Friends will be received at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa on Wed., May 10, 2023 from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 P.M., where a Celebration of Life will commence at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Tom “Tex” Evans of Nature’s Resort Church officiating.
