Neal Hall Doty

Neal Hall Doty, 93, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Sun., August 13, 2023 in Lecanto, FL. Neal was born in Stanton, VA, June 7, 1930 to Merritt and Viola (Whittington) Doty, one of two children. Neal served his country proudly and honorably in the United States Army as a combat Infantry Soldier during the Korean War, Neal received the Korean service award along with 3 Bronze stars, The United Nations Service Medal, CIB medal and 1 O/S BAR while serving a full year’s tour in Korea. Mr. Doty was a retired store manager for Marsh Supermarkets and began his career in the industry at the age of 14 as a meatcutter. When Neal retired in the mid 1990’s, he had worked in the grocery business 50 + years. Neal moved to Citrus County in 1999 from Lebanon, Indiana and enjoyed traveling and playing golf. Neal had a love for animals! In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce Elaine Doty in 1987; his brother James M. “Jimmy” Doty in 2011 and three of his children; Debbie Doty Epperly and Danny and David Doty. Neal is survived by his son Douglas Doty (wife Tammie), Lecanto, FL; six grandchildren, including Douglas Neal Doty (wife Allison), Inverness, FL; Dustin Hall Doty, Indianapolis, IN and Joe Sherfick & (fiancé Kristi), Indianpolis, IN and great grandchildren Emily, Ethan, Rockne, Brahms, Delaney, Logan, Tiegan, Isaiah, Mary, Claire and Caleb and one great great grandson John. Services are at Wilder Funeral Home in Homosassa Fl. Viewing for friends and family will be on Mon., Aug. 21, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 P.M. and the services and celebration of life to follow at 12:00 noon. Procession leaves at 12:45 PM for Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL, where military honors will be performed at 2:00 P.M. with the Florida Army National Guard and American Legion Post #155 of Crystal River rendering honors. www.wilderfuneral.com
