

Ramona I Rose age 90 passed away peacefully on January 30, 2022 at the Royal Dalton House in Homosassa, Florida. She was born December 8, 1931 to Louise and Wendell Igo in Highland County, Ohio and was raised in Hillsboro, Ohio in a long time farming community that continues to serve the community to date. As a young woman she pursued her dream of becoming a teacher and began her studies at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, earning her Bachelors Degree. She then continued her studies earning a Masters Degree at Ohio State University also of Columbus, Ohio. One of our favorite family stories is when her college tuition was due, her father Wendell would sell a cow or a pig to pay the tuition. She went on to teach for the next 35 years at various school districts until she settled in Copiague, New York and taught first grade for 30 years in the Farmingdale School. District.
In 1956 she married David Laurence Rose who predeceased her in 1994. Together they had a son Sean G. Rose of Manhattan, Kansas. In 1995 she met Vernon R. Budd (Bob) who became her companion for 23 years settling in Homosassa, Florida. Ramona was a social butterfly who involved herself with her much loved book club for 20 years, Stonecroft Ministries, the Irish Club, the Moose Club, St. Thomas Church and traveling around the world.
Ramona is survived by her son Sean G. Rose. Brother Henry Igo and his wife Beverly. Nephew Kevin Igo who predeceased her in 2021. Nieces Kathy Igo-Chambers and her husband Tim, her niece Kolleen Igo-Buman and her husband Jerry. She is also survived by her much loved grand nieces and nephews. Ramona was a selfless woman who became a substitute mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and mentor to Vernon’s family until her passing on January 30th.
Her interment service will be held at Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York at a later date with immediate family.
