Ronald A. Arlen, 74, of Homosassa, Florida, passed away on Fri., Nov. 8, 2019 at Bayfront Health Seven Rivers in Crystal River, Florida. A native of Harvey, Illinois, Mr. Arlen was born February 7, 1945 to Bruno and Eleanor (Kavis) Malkusiak, one of three children. Ron served his country honorably and proudly in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 on active duty, then from 1968 to 1972 as a reservist. He was a retired first responder for the State of Illinois and moved to Homosassa four years ago from Crestwood, Illinois. Ronald’s passions in life were deer hunting and freshwater fishing, but as a U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps veteran, Ron also loved everything relating to veterans and our military. Mr. Arlen was also a member of Northcliffe Baptist Church of Spring Hill, Florida, and was preceded in death by his parents. Ron is survived by his loving wife with whom he shared 29 years, Melissa Arlen of Homosassa, Florida; brother Gary Arlen (Barbara) of Idaho; sister Lori Hughes (Dennis) of Georgia; his eight children: Deneen Giorgi-Leber, Indiana; Chely Cortes, Florida; Ronnie Arlen (Patti), Florida; Michael Arlen (Anna), New Jersey; Jennifer Arlen (Miguel), Illinois; Amy Kersey (Damon), Indiana; Jason Michael Kick (Nou), Florida and Jesse Kick (Andrea), Florida; grandchildren Deneen (Adam) of Georgia; Nicole (John), Andrew (Alison), GiAnna (Aric), Angela and Anthony, all of Indiana; Fernando (Kayla), Jiji, Victoria and Jaylyn, all of Florida; Isaiah of Illinois; Emmie of Indiana; Rayshawn, David, Kaylee and Connor, all of Florida; and seven great grandchildren. Friends will be received on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, Florida, where a Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Jerry Waugh of Northcliffe Baptist Church of Spring Hill, Florida officiating.
