Steve Johns

Steve Johns, 67, of Crystal River, Florida, passed away on Sat., Dec. 12, 2020 at his home. A native of Ft. Benning, GA, he was born May 7, 1953 to Bruce and Sue (Morrison) Johns, one of two children, and moved to Crystal River before he turned one year old. Steve was a lifelong marine mechanic and served both Riverhaven Marina in Homosassa, FL, then as the owner and operator of R + S Performance. Mr. Johns had a passion for Formula One Boat Racing, and raced for the Circuit City Team. But Steve actually enjoyed any form of racing, be it boats, classic cars (especially Corvettes), and even motorcycles. His perfect day would be spent riding in his classic cars, especially his Corvette, or his motorcycle with family and friends. Steve was the Vice President of the Touch of Class Corvette Club and as a longtime faithful and devoted member of First United Methodist Church of Homosassa, he was a Chairman of the Trustees and a devoted volunteer in the church’s Food Pantry. In addition to his father Bruce, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 31 years, Beth Nordling Olsen Johns, on Sept. 26, 2016 and his father-in-law, Stanley Olsen, on Sept. 30, 2020. In addition to his mother, Sue Johns-Meyer and his sister Teresa Johns-Gordon (husband Roy), Steve is survived by his three children: Michael Johns (wife Patti), Citrus Springs, FL; Ashley Rainwater (husband James “J.R.”), Union, SC and Christine Bell (husband Timothy) of Durham, NC; grandchildren Carter Nichols (wife Emma), Anthony Nichols and Aniah and Aliviah Rainwater; great grandchildren Alex and Slate Nichols and his mother-in-law, Betty Olsen. Friends will be received on Sat., Jan. 9, 2021 from 11:30 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at First United Methodist Church of Homosassa, 8831 W. Bradshaw St., Homosassa, FL 34448, where a Funeral Service of Remembrance will commence at 1:00 P.M. with Pastors Patti Aupperlee and Chris Kirk officiating.
