She was born November 20, 1943 to Alfred and Cecelia Yuk Lan Achong. They lived in Kaimuki and later moved to Niu Valley. She was a graduate of Kalani High School class of 1962. Alfrieda (Alfie) was a dedicated flight attendant of Hawaiian Airlines retiring after nearly 60 years and also danced with Halau O’ Wai Ale Ale with Kumu John Aiwohi.
Alfrieda is survived by her siblings Joycelyn (Ray) Sheely and Hughland Achong, nephew Alan Birnie, niece Kim Birnie, grand-nephews Kalan and Connor Birnie, great grand niece Ha'aipo, great grand nephews Kealoha’aina, Puamana and Kekia'ionamoku Kanoa-Wong, cousins, extended family and so many friends. She is predeceased by her sisters Carleen (Ian) Birnie, Alverna Achong, brother Hadrian (Thuy Tran) Achong and grand-niece Camille (Laiana) Kanoa-Wong.
Her celebration of life will take place on Saturday June 8, 2024 at Mary, Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 4470 Aliikoa Street, Honolulu, Hawaii 96821. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 am and Mass begins at 11:00 am.
