Buddy served in the Army as a medical laboratory technician for 4.5 years. He used his GI bill to attend college and received a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology in 1973. He worked at Tripler Army Medical Center as a medical technologist and Supervisor of Microbiology for 37.5 years. On June 5, 1982, he married Allison Portia Pang, and they raised 2 children.
Buddy had a love for movies. With his first VCR, he started his own collection of movies. Later he purchased movies on-line so he could share them with his children and their families. His favorite movie was Gone With the Wind; famous quotes: "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn." (Rhett Butler), and "As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again." (Scarlett O'Hara). We never did go hungry, the pantry was always stocked with canned pork and beans and sardines. He also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, online puzzles, and working on clay art flowers or figures. He was known for his quick wit, and his drive and passion to confront challenges.
Buddy is survived by his wife of 37 years, Allison Pang Eberly, children: Naomi (Marcus) Wallace, and Bryan (Dawn) Eberly; grandchildren: Isaac Wallace, Caleb Wallace, Toshi Eberly, and Aki Eberly.
