Lt. Col. Brown was an Air Defense Officer for the U.S. Army. He was awarded the Legion of Merit posthumously.
He is survived by spouse Kumiko Brown; sons Andrew (Stefani) Brown, Cory Adam (Teresa) Brown, and David Brown; daughters Chelsea (Matthew) Brown Ahroon, Ayaka Brown, Kaori Hubbard, and Rika Hubbard; parents Jackie and Bonnie (Heal) Brown; sisters Dawn (Jeff) Hall, Virginia Haley, and Kimberly Thrailkill; brothers Jack Brown and Randell (Kathy) Brown; seven grandsons and one granddaughter.
Funeral services were at Borthwick Mortuary, 1330 Maunakea Street in Honolulu, Hawaii, on October 18, 2012. Inurnment was at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific on October 23, 2012. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of Lt. Col. Brian Brown (support.woundedwarriorproject.org).
